I had surgery at the Surg Center, at their Bethesda location. The prep for surgery was generally ok. The surgeon, Dr. Gilbert, discussed and explained the treatment to me very well. But some aspects of the experience were not good: 1. Pain prescription issue: I repeatedly asked the nurses if the pain prescription (for post-surgery pain) had been sent to my pharmacy, CVS, and they assured me it had. When I was able to check my phone, I told them that I had not yet received a text from CVS. Without looking into the matter, they continued to say the prescription had been sent. On my way home with my ride (I could not drive due to surgery so had to be driven home by a friend), we stopped at CVS and found that the prescription had not been received. I called the Surg Center to inform them about the issue and the front desk gentleman lectured me to tell me that I should have called CVS before I left home to pick the medicine! He did not seem concerned that the pain medicine prescription had not reached CVS; he wanted to teach me the lesson that I should not have gone to the pharmacy before first calling them. Anyway, he said someone will look into the matter. I never heard back from them. I called them back a few times and they did not answer and did not even have a voicemail option; the phone simply went to Verizon saying they were not available (in the middle of the day!). Even when I got around to talking to them, they did not seem concerned and never did call me back with any update or status. (My doctor's office, MOST, was very helpful and helped resolved the issue even though the original mistake had happened at the Surg Center.) 2. Before the surgery, after they got me to undress and wear their gown (and gave me a couple of cotton sheets), I asked for a blanket since I was feeling cold. They had none. I asked if I could get another sheet and the nurse told me they could not waste linen! (I had a copay of more than $1,300 for the surgery and they could not waste linen to make me comfortable!) Eventually the nurse did take pity on me and gave me another sheet and a heater.

My son who is a 23 yr old college student just go to virginia a few days ago for an internship from Long Island NY and saw Dr Scott for a crushed finger. He needed surgery to reattach the tendon. From Dr Scott and Kenia at the Drs office to Robin at the front desk of the surgery center and Nurse Siobhan, everyone was absolutely amazing. I was worried about my son by himself in Virginia without me, and not knowing what to expect. They put my mind at ease and kept in touch every step of the way. I cannot say enough about Dr Scott and staff and the staff at the surgery center!!! As a mom, I appreciate all they did for my son and to put my mind at ease.

I've had 2 total hip replacements done at the SurgCenter and cannot say enough good things about the Center and its staff. Communication was excellent throughout, with the nursing staff reaching out to me numerous times prior to surgery to make sure I had all the needed information. The staff is kind and caring, some of the most pleasant medical professionals I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. It was a seamless process from start to finish. Check-in was quick and well organized, my procedures were performed exactly on schedule and in-home physical therapy had already been arranged for me prior to the surgery. I was there for 6 hours the first time and 5 hours the second time. Both times I spoke with the surgeon, nurses and anesthesiologist both before and after the operation and they answered any questions I had. I also had my first PT session at the Center before discharge. An outstanding experience. Highly recommend the SurgCenter of the Potomac.

I had surgery at this facility yesterday . let me just start by saying what a wonderful experience from Ingrid at the front desk who just was so calm and pleasant to interact with to my nurse Ashley who made sure I was comfortable from the start to finish. I went in a little anxious , I told Ashley all my concerns from previous anesthesia experiences, when I woke up Ashley had me tucked warm and comfortable like a baby. She payed attention , she listens and she got active for me. The whole experience was a 10/10 . The whole team was so pleasant and made this experience even better for me. I will always recommend my friends and colleagues and family to this facility . Thank you all for such a pleasant time. I hope I won’t have to see you guys again but if I ever need surgery , I KNOW WHERE IM GOING FOR MY 5 star treatment.

I had a microdiscectomy performed yesterday here and I would like say that my experience was great. Every member of the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. They made sure I had everything I needed and me feel very relaxed and comfortable before my procedure. Dr. Hughes performed my surgery and he is a great doctor. The nurses and also the anesthesiologist were cracking jokes with me before and the atmosphere was lively. I did not feel nervous or scared because I was treated so well before and after the surgery.
