I had the unfortunate experience of having two outpatient procedures at South Florida Specialists. While my doctor is the best in class within South Florida, this surgery center is the very worst I’ve ever been to. Others in the comments have referred to it as “meat market”, and they are absolutely correct. I arrived 2 hours early for an 8:30am appointment. While waiting to be called, I received a call from “Barbara” from the center asking where I was, telling me I had missed my appointment. When I went up to the front desk to ask about the situation, the front desk manager told me the “back office” didn’t know what they were doing and not to worry to sit and wait to be called. They didn’t call me in until 9:30am. Mind you, I had been fasting since Wednesday evening. Today is Friday. I was told to be there at 7:30. I arrived at 6:30am to ensure I didn’t cause any delays. Prep nurse (Myrna) brought me to the prep facility, she was very pleasant, professional and kind but seemed frustrated which made me more nervous than I already was. I quickly understood why she seemed frustrated. Her colleagues were not only very loud, but also were using foul language in Spanish - truly awful language in reference to their work. This was very disrespectful and unacceptable not to mention unprofessional. My nurse tried to ask her colleagues to tone it down but was quickly dismissed. They went back to speaking very loudly, (in Spanish-I say this because my prep nurse did not speak Spanish) and continued saying terrible things about their work, mainly about having to clean up after colonoscopy procedures. I witnessed and heard the entire interaction. It was awful. And yes, I speak Spanish and understood every word that was spoken. As a patient, I felt vulnerable and uneasy about the staff who are supposed to be there to help and care for us patients. Once the procedure was complete, I was barely able to move and was being asked to get ready without even having my husband called in. I was still under the effects of the anesthesia. They treat patients like literal objects. I hope to never return to this facility. Please be aware of this situation before you book your appointment with them. Good luck. @South Florida Surgery Specialists, do better for your patients and your own employees.

Honestly, I was really impressed with this clinic! Everything was super easy from start to finish, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure I knew what was going on. The nurses, anesthesiologist, and their team were all so clear and communicative. The doc did an amazing job, and everyone was just so friendly and made me feel really comfortable. Plus, it's awesome that many of the staff speak both English and Spanish. I'd totally recommend this place! P.S. One more thing - parking is super easy! There's plenty of space in the lot, and if it's full, just park on the street - there's tons of spots available.

i had the total opposite experience of what i read in these negative comments. everyone was extremely nice. I was in and out, i had like zero wait time. they asked me in the beginning if i prefer english or spanish. i was actually blown away by how nice and professional everyone was. it was a stressful situation and they made the whole thing so easy. i'm very grateful to the entire staff for making me feel less stressed, making things easy and getting me out of there quickly. thanks to them all!

I am beyond satisfied with the South Florida surgery center.I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy there on March 27th ,2026 with my gastroenterologist Dr Simon Behar. The staff there is amazing. Raquel the person who did my registration was very professional and explained everything in detail and make my registration process easy and quick. The pre op nurse Susan was very caring and very gentle when she did my iv .I had not pain at all.She also helped me to cope with my anxiety and make sure I was relaxed by providing 2 hot blankets and explaining everything until they anesthesiologist came to ask me some questions.Even when I went in the OR the nurse there as well as the staff with Dr Behar was very gentle and professional right before I went under anesthesia .At the recovery room,I was treated by the nurse Luis who was super polite .He explained that the procedure went well, everything was done during the procedure and gave me some recommendations to follow at home once i would be dismissed. He was very empathetic and also allowed my husband to be there with me before Dr Behar came to share the findings and the good news.i am beyond greatful for the outstanding and very caring service provided from the staff that treated me that day.The facility is very clean and very organized. I am glad I had my procedures there.Highly recommend this facility and from now on,I will continue with my colonoscopies and endoscopic there whenever they are due. Mayte Sanchez
