Dr. Poor and the staff at Vincera are incredible. Dr. Poor took time explaining my diagnosis clearly, and answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed. He is also extremely accessible post-surgery for any questions/concerns. Not only great bedside manner, but an excellent surgeon, as my pre-op pain is essentially gone. Highly recommend.

It's been 12 weeks since Dr. Poor and his team performed my bilateral core muscle repair surgery. I've been ultra-running and playing hockey for years, and when I got to my 50's things caught up with me. Over the years I had hip resurfacing and labrum repair surgery, as well as inguinal hernia repair surgery which helped with those areas however a constant, intense pain in my groin remained. I did multiple rounds of cortisol shots and PT none of which resolved the chronic groin pain. It got so bad I gave up skating, running and could barely walk a mile without being in intense pain. Then I learned about Vincera. I went out for a consultation and was impressed with the expertise and demeanor of Dr. Poor and reputation of Dr. Meyers (although I never met Dr. Myers.) As impressed as I was it wasn't an easy decision to move forward at no fault of Dr. Poor. Like any medical procedure there's no guarantee of the result. Dr. Poor had a strong feeling it would be successful, but in my mind it was a lot of money. The accounting staff was very honest and straightforward from the start; they don't put in the claim but they will supply you with needed documentation to claim and appeal if needed. I was denied and am still awaiting my appeal process decision. My opinion is this; if you can afford it comfortably take the chance, as it could change your life for the better. If it'll break the bank, maybe it's something you shouldn't do because there's a good chance you won't be reimbursed by your insurance company. I guess it depends how bad and limiting your pain is. After my consultation I waited about 6 months of being pretty immobile and gaining weight when I finally made the decision to move forward with the core muscle surgery. So far I'm very glad I did. I've been religious about my PT program and my local PTs have been outstanding implementing Vincera's program. My core feels better and stronger than ever. In all honesty, I have yet to return to sport, only due to the lack of ice time and extreme desert heat precluding me from trail running but I'll get back soon. As for daily activity I feel better than I have for years, and plyometrics and weight training leave me feeling great rather than in chronic pain icing my groin. After I return to sport fully I'll add to this review, but so far it has been a success and have I no regrets having the surgery. Update: As I continued PT, at 14 weeks I also returned to skating. After skating a few times, just to test it out and work on form and strength, my groin felt pretty good. At 16 weeks I tried playing in a scrimmage, nothing too intense. While I played I had no pain. That said, a few hours after playing hockey my right groin pain was back fairly intensely. I iced it and continued working with PTs. I tried playing again twice more in the coming week with the same result. Intense pain in my right groin after playing. I made the tough decision to take another couple of months off, let my groin rest and heal, and continue PT with less intensity. I think resting it helped as it started to feel better, I eventually skated and started playing in games again. So far so good as I have no pain and I'm back on the ice. Perhaps the level of activity was too soon for an old guy like me or I pushed it too hard. Maybe I just needed more time to heal. I do ice it after every game, but I have no sign of pain in either groin. As for insurance, I was denied twice for costs, although the anesthesiologist sent me my portion back ($1200 I believe) so they must have been somewhat covered. Insurance also reimbursed me directly $1000 towards the procedure which is really just a drop in the bucket. Although it was expensive and I've given up trying to squeeze anything more out of UHC, I'm still glad I found Vincera as I'm back being active and pain free.

I had been dealing with pain and loss of function for a year and a half following an acute injury that was untreatable by a dozen other doctors. Dr. Poor and the Vincera Institute have my undying gratitude for giving me the treatment that no one else seemingly could.

I can't recommend Cara and Vincera rehab enough! She is incredibly knowledgeable and always goes the extra mile for her clients. What I appreciate most is how she is just a text message away, always available to offer advice or adjust exercises as needed. Her innovative exercises and techniques really feel tailored for athletes, making me feel confident that I'm on the right path to recovery. If you're looking for physical therapy which is attentive, creative, and caring, Vincera is it!

Dr. Meyers and the incredible staff at the Vincera Institute gave me my life back! After two years of debilitating pain, seeing 8 different specialists and 10 different diagnostic tests with every physician telling me there was nothing wrong with me, thanks to Dr. Meyers I am finally pain-free! Only 9 weeks post-surgery and I am back to putting on my own socks and shoes, exercising, lifting without pain and fighting 50 lb fish! The most incredible thing is that not only is my abdominal and groin pain gone, but my back pain is gone as well. I never even considered that as a possibility! Vincera not only gave me my life back, but my entire outlook has changed. I don’t feel like I’m 62 years old, I am no longer fighting depression from chronic pain and I’m excited about my life ahead. It’s truly miraculous! I am incredibly thankful for Dr. Meyers knowledge, his caring attitude, the incredible staff and all Vincera has done to help so many people suffering from a little understood problem.
