Dr. Melendez and her team were great. They were extremely thorough during the diagnosis leading up to the TOS surgery. The surgery resulted and the pain reduction that was explained to me prior to the the procedure. My venous compression was also resolved. Post surgery my recovery was speedy. Thank you Vascular Institute of the Rockies!
You don’t understand how badly I want to leave a good review. For starters, it’s nearly impossible to reach the office by phone. I came to this clinic with a sensitive pelvic issue. My doctor did his best, but put me through surgery that was deemed unnecessary and was unsuccessful after being in the OR. My issue was not resolved. NO ONE CONTACTED ME, I had to get in contact to try and resolve my pain. When I got in, I had a round of sclerotherapy. (No pain management offered) It was unsuccessful, so again I was the one to pursue and advocate for continued care. I came back for more sclerotherapy. It was a failed treatment again. It has been 3 months since I’ve been in office. NO ONE HAS REACHED OUT. I have never felt more of an inconvenience to medical professionals than at this office. So, please find an office that cares and advocates for you as a patient.
The staff at the Grand Junction location was professional and kind. I had venogram with Poplitereal Access first proceedure, a stint was placed. Second proceedure was Radio-Frequency Venus Ablation. I'm praying these were both successful in reestablishing proper circulation. My experience concerning pain was unbearable. I was told I'd be sedated and not feel much pain, however that was not the case. I don't know that those doing the proceedures understood that I was in terrible pain during both proceedures. "twlight" I was expecting was not in use I don't think, or I would not have been in so much pain. My recovery has been a painful struggle too, but this Is possibly due to acute sciatica, arthritis, Low pain tolerance and old age. The first follow-up ultrasound was painful, so not looking forward to the second follow-up ultrsound in a couple weeks.
My partner got a rib resection by Dr Melendez a year ago. The surgery made her condition so much worse. I feel so bad for her, please be careful with this surgeon. Try everything possible before surgery. The doctor just sent her to pain management and didn’t even care to listen to her post op really.
Visit itself was fine and professional. Before having the vascular ultrasound, I asked what would be my cost if I went through insurance. I was told without insurance I'd probably pay around $400 and that, while they couldn't give me an exact number, they recommended I go through insurance. So I did. My visit was in October 2023. In September 2024, I get a bill for $134. Why it took a year is beyond me, I'm sure they wouldn't reciprocate that much time for me to pay them. But I paid it. In April 2025, 1.5 YEARS after my appointment, I get a second invoice for $306. I called billing and was told that this was for an extremity study. I wasn't aware of this additional service nor was it mentioned during my visit. The person I spoke with said they'd follow up and get back to me. Of course, no one ever called me back, even after I called twice and spent a total of 30 min on the phone. Sadly, what was a good visit went extremely south with abysmal billing and and even poorer billing customer service experience. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
