Dr Boyd is my Urologist at Urological Associates and she has been my Dr for over 20 years. I appreciate how she sits with me and details what my surgery is going to be and the how the recovery will proceed. And she is always correct. The nurses and her staff Love her also, I can tell by their attention to detail and the way they respond to each other with help or positive feedback. I am very fortunate to be a patient of Urological Associates and Thank God for the good medical services and personal attention I always receive there. May God Bless each and everyone at Urological Associates of Savannah.
Appointment 01/26/2026 at 10:30am. I accompanied my mother (a disabled Veteran receiving care through VA Community Care) to Urological Associates of Savannah, and this was one of the most upsetting medical experiences I’ve ever witnessed. The office was overcrowded to the point the parking lot was beyond full and patients were walking in the street. Inside, we were asked to shout my mom’s last name across a packed waiting room. After waiting until 10:55am, we were sent to a “check-in desk” that was just a row of staff at computers with no privacy dividers. From where I stood, I could clearly see a front desk employee’s computer screen showing multiple patients’ names, DOBs, and insurance information. In the restroom, there were urine specimen cups overflowing in a way that left patient identifiers visible. These appeared to be serious HIPAA/privacy failures. Clinically, the visit was just as bad. My mom was handed a urine cup without explanation, and the sample wasn’t even reviewed before the provider discussed her concerns. Nurse Practitioner Melissa Porter was repeatedly dismissive while my mom explained symptoms and questions related to Interstitial Cystitis, quickly shutting things down with “that’s not IC” instead of listening or discussing next steps. When my mom described side effects from a medication, she was essentially told that couldn’t be true. We had also called twice ahead of the appointment to confirm my mom could receive her first bladder instillation during this visit (we brought the medication with us). In the room, we were suddenly told the procedure wasn’t approved and someone would “check with billing.” Shortly after, a Medical Assistant came in, held out a tissue, and repeatedly demanded “two pills” from me with zero explanation of what was happening. When we tried to ask basic questions (again—this was my mom’s first time), the MA became visibly impatient and frustrated. My mom has PTSD and became overwhelmed. We left to avoid a panic attack. No one followed up afterward — not Melissa Porter, not a supervisor — but the office reported to the VA that my mother “no-showed.” She did attend. She left because of how she was treated. That’s not just unprofessional — it impacts a Veteran’s care. I would not recommend this practice to anyone who expects privacy, clear communication, or compassionate care.
I see negative reviews and question why. Yes there are or may be some wait times. This is a clinic that sees many people a lot of the time. The staff has always treated me well and with respect. Treat them with and kindness and you will receive the same. Dr. Cheng probably saved my life. He found cancer in my body. He removed it and I'm alive today and forever grateful to him and his staff. I waited like so many others in a busy clinic. Was it and is it worth the wait. It's your life and your decision to make. For me...it's well worth it. I thank God, Dr. Cheng and staff for finding and removing my cancer.
My experience here is limited at best since it was VERY difficult to get the office co-ordinated but long story short: I was diagnosed by biopsy in this office to have Interstitial Cystitis. I came in with a list of symptoms and pain and that prompted the biopsy. My visit the other day I showed up with my list of symptoms to be told by PA Melissa Porter that IC would not cause any of my symptoms. The providers themselves appear to be amazing but the help they surround themselves with leave a lot to be desired. My bladder pain and I will just continue to suffer ALONE as I won’t help fund their CASH COW. Find anywhere else to go.
Online check in with patient copay worked with well. Check in at practice was fast and courteous. DR was friendly and attended to my needs. Plenty of parking available. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about this place, but my experience was very good.
