On July 14th 2025, I had a routine gallbladder removal after experiencing gallbladder attacks throughout my entire pregnancy (gave birth Dec 31st 2024) and progressively got worse further into my post partum. This was my first surgery ever. I woke up feeling very groggy and sore which wasn’t unusual and was given hydrocodone for pain. I went home and once the pain med wore off started feeling super heavy in my abdomen. I decided I would just take another pain med, go to bed and hopefully wake up feeling better. I woke up in the morning and could barely stand, moving hurt even with the pain meds. I called the surgery center and they told me it’s normal and to rest and it would go away. I was white as a ghost and would nearly pass out any time I stood up and the heaviness in my abdomen/groin was so much worse (which I informed them of over the phone). My fiance took me to urgent care where they took my blood pressure which was extremely low and I was in and out of consciousness. They asked to bus me to the ER but I insisted my fiance could take me. After a few hours in the ER, lots of fluids, tests and a CT scan it was confirmed I was internally bleeding. I underwent another surgery that night to have 2L of blood extracted from my abdomen and a blood transfusion. I was discharged the next day and asked to make an appt ASAP with my family doctor to have my iron levels tested and be sure my labs would come back normal (as normal as they would with that blood loss) the following day on my way to my appointment the Surgery Center called me to reschedule my aftercare checkup, informing me the surgeon who performed my gallbladder removal had passed away that day (3 days after my surgery) unexpectedly. I rescheduled but later cancelled the appointment due to trauma. I reviewed my surgery notations and the only thing on my portal was nurse’s notes, no post op or after care notes from the surgeon at all, to this day I still don’t know what exactly happened. Due to this experience I am glad I didn’t listen to the advice of the nurse from The Surgery Center, I am terrified of ever having to undergo another surgery and cannot recommend the Surgery Center at United Medical Park.

I am writing this review to document my experience at this surgery center so others can make an informed decision. What should have been a difficult but manageable operation instead became an experience marked by significant stress, inconsistent information, financial pressure, and what I experienced as a lack of post-operative support. I was referred urgently by my GP and seen the same day. When Dr. Henry examined me, he strongly recommended that my operation be performed at this center. I later learned that he is a part owner of the surgery center. I was told the procedure could be done the next day and that going to the hospital instead would likely mean a longer wait and possibly not having access to the same long-acting local anesthetic, which I was told could provide pain relief for several days rather than hours. Based on this information, I chose to proceed here. On the morning of surgery, I arrived on time and was told the procedure would cost $2,700, with 25% they wanted up front. I explained that I could not afford that amount and offered $100 with the intention of setting up a payment plan. While standing at the front desk, I heard staff discuss whether they should “allow” this arrangement. This was humiliating and extremely stressful. I was taken to pre-op and was anxious about general anesthesia. I was told both the surgeon and anesthesiologist would speak with me beforehand, but I waited over two hours without speaking to either. When the surgeon eventually arrived, he referenced a conversation I was expected to have already had with the anesthesiologist, which had not occurred. This lack of coordination immediately before surgery caused significant anxiety. After surgery, I woke up in recovery spitting up blood with throat pain. When I looked in the mirror, my uvula was swollen, bloody, and injured. The surgeon had already left. A member of the anesthesia team evaluated me and stated this was not typical, but that it can occur. In the days that followed, I developed a painful sore on my uvula along with a persistent sensation that my throat was obstructed when swallowing. This was frightening and uncomfortable. I was discharged with post-operative paperwork and left with my fiancé. At the pharmacy, I was given two antibiotics that did not match what I was told I would receive or what was listed in the paperwork. The paperwork also did not contain specific information about the long-acting local anesthetic that had been emphasized as a reason for choosing this facility. Instead, it contained generic information stating that local anesthesia typically lasts four to eight hours, which contradicted what I was told pre-op. Given that patients may not remember post-operative discussions due to general anesthesia, accurate written instructions are especially important. Following surgery, I experienced severe and ongoing pain. I contacted the on-call service multiple times and felt that my concerns were increasingly unwelcome. I went to the emergency room due to pain, and the ER later contacted the general surgery team, who advised that the treatment should not have been given. Receiving conflicting guidance between providers significantly increased my anxiety and fear for my safety. Most recently, I contacted the on-call service again with concerns about a possible infection. I waited hours for a response and was advised by the answering service to go to the emergency room. When a doctor eventually returned my call, the interaction felt rushed and dismissive. There is also no patient portal or secure messaging system available, despite being told this would be addressed. Based on the lack of coordination before surgery, the post-operative complications I experienced, the inconsistent information provided, and the limited follow-up afterward, this experience left me with serious concerns about my care. I attempted to address these concerns directly but did not feel supported or reassured. No patient should feel this scared, dismissed, or alone after surgery.

They work well with each other from The surgeon's to the nurse's, they communicate well with each other and patient's and their families. I'd recommend anyone to go and at least check out their staff and the ranges of care that they offer. Had a positive experience every Time at every appointment.

They deserve negative stars. Worst possible place. They could care less how long they make you sit. Have an appointment? Ok ill take ya back 4 hours later. Awful awful place.

Poor customer service. Nurse was very rude. I have had 2 surgeries there. One time they let me tape ring and next they threatened to cut my wedding ring off. One time let me as grandma back with granddaughter and next time said only parents can go back. Very rude and inconsistency. If not due to insurance would not go here again
