To have empathy is to be able to put yourself in someone's place and understand how they are feeling. And to have compassion is to express the understanding that allows you to be empathetic. To find these two qualities in one human being, is a blessing. To find these two qualities in a group of people, is a true gift. This was my great fortune when, at the Surgery Center at Jensen Beach, I met and was cared for by the incredible staff of nurses, doctors, surgical technicians, patient advocates, and assistants. Pre-admit callers included Peggy, Juanita, Debbie, and Amanda. Coordinators are Corrine and Collette, and Registration contact is Kirsten. All work hard to accommodate the many and varied demands of patients hoping for a good experience. Then I met Pre-Op nurse, Lucy, a beautiful human being, excelling in compassion and empathy, a highly-skilled and dedicated professional. She explained the process, listened to concerns, and was comforting and understanding while she expertly and gently started the necessary IV, returning often to check on me. Sara and Diane were kind and competent assistants. Dr. Jarrell is the expert anesthesiologist who introduced himself, then asked non-intrusive, important questions, necessary and pertinent to ensure proper administering of medicine. He was gentle and kind, with a great sense of humor. Of course, Dr. Pare, the wonderful eye surgeon, was there, always kind and reassuring. Mariola, the OR Circulator nurse, and the patient's primary advocate, was kind and helpful. Alberto, CRNA, the highly-skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, was compassionate and friendly. Michelle, the surgical tech, was there to ensure patient safety. Stephanie and Karen were the nurses who provided post-anesthesia care in the recovery room. All of the fine people who worked diligently to make both of my eye surgeries a positive experience, were talented, attentive, focused and serious about their medical responsibilities, while being kind and considerate with excellent communication skills. They demonstrated being highly motivated to do their best, and showed confidence in their ability to do so, with the highest regard for the patient. It was most significant and impressive how everyone worked together, like an extremely well- rehearsed production where each player entered the scene, on cue, precisely when needed, and then stayed until the procedure was expertly and accurately completed. The surgery in my other eye was performed and executed with the same precision and excellent care as the first surgery. The Surgery Center at Jensen Beach has a most incredible surgical team consisting of the highest quality human beings and professionals. Thanks to all of you.
I do not recommend using this facility!!!! Prior to my procedure, the care I was offered was adequate. Unfortunately, while I was under anesthesia, the medical staff positioned me, While the action may have been necessary, they sprained my wrist. I woke up feeling fine with the exception of throbbing pain in my wrist. The staff instructed me to get dressed and wait in a wheel chair in the back of a room. I was totally ignored after that. For the rest of the day, my wrist and hand increased in size and pain. I reached out to my primary care doctor who advised the typical 'RICE" treatment. The following morning, I had no relieve or improvement. I went up to the surgery center. The nurse wanted to blame the IV. I disagreed. Knowing that I wasn't going to easily dismiss the issue, the nurse took me back to the anesthetist who said he didn't think it was fractured. He said that sometimes they have to reposition patients and the injury could have been the result of that action. He said that he was sorry it happened. 3 days later, I went to the ER where a fracture and blood clot was ruled out. However, I was diagnosed with a sprain.Since then, I have worn the splint they provided. Two weeks later, the swelling is gone, but I still have a region of my wrist that is very painful. Accident or not, this should not have happened.
I had a procedure done yesterday at the Jensen Beach Surgery Center. I wanted to give a big shout out to the entire team. Everyone was kind, compassionate, considerate, and efficient. I felt well taken care of throughout the procedure. The facility itself is very nice, and clean. The only blip is the waiting room was packed, with several people having to stand. I even received a call this morning to check in on how I was feeling. I would highly recommend this facility.
Nurse anesthetist Amber that works here is such a caring and wonderful miracle worker! She made my 3 year old so comfortable during his little procedure, she literally deserves a raise and a medal! Dr Erickson is also pretty great, but I can’t say enough good things about Amber! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making that so easy for Eli and me.
Amazing care! From the front desk staff, to the nursing staff, and doctors. The staff are always so very professional, and make sure the patients are feeling and doing ok. The warm blankets are the BEST!! Thank you all for making a me feel important, and well cared for.
