Surgical Services Locations

I am currently working towards having my Surgery done in late December, early January. I have had several of my appointments already and have enjoyed every staff member I have come into contact with. From the receptionist to the doctors, everyone has been absolutely wonderful. Especially the nutritionist Elaine, I had some difficult stories to tell her during my consult and she showed me compassion and care. It was amazing how she just knew that something had happened to me that contributed to my emotional eating behaviour without saying much in the beginning. I'm thankful to have found this amazing team of doctors and nurses and I'm looking forward to continuing down this long road ahead with all of them.

I had surgery with Dr. Poorshojae in March 2019 and he and the team are absolutely amazing! I feel so grateful to live in Northern Virginia because working with INOVA Bariatric was truly exceptional. Kimberly Hohenadel has been such an incredible resource and support throughout the entire process. I have lost over 150 lbs and have gotten my life back. If you are researching weight loss surgery this is your team!!

So far so good. All staff, aside from one, has been helpful, informative and they all have great bedside manner. I leave there with vast information on what’s next. The office is clean and looks orderly. I believe it is shared with other medical practices. Second visit and overall, I am extremely satisfied with almost everything. However, they may need to replace their nutritionist with someone less bias, that likes what they do as a profession. I was told by Elaine, “I assume you’re a single parent.” I am! But what made her assume that was a few things. My race, I told her I was swamped with work (2 jobs) and that I had 4 boys. Moms do it all regardless, so to assume from those 3 things alone is wrong. Possibly, she read my file and saw that I am divorced, but I really don’t think so from many of her questions. A rule we learn early on that the world forgot, Dont judge a book by its cover, don’t assume things. Sorry, those things aren’t taught anymore. I left with no additional knowledge of anything nutrition related. Only with my next steps as far as scheduling, provided by the fabiolus Receptionist. At least print me a menu Or give me a print out of what we established. However, maybe consults are nothing more than to have you talk and be criticized on answers. Another issue with the nutritionist, even a right response to you was wrong. Is there a universal answer that is needed? If you ask me why I want to lose weight, and I tell you it is because my health has taken a negative turn, that I need fix the damage I did to be around and for my loved ones. That is my answer. That is why I am there. Not to fit in a dress, not to be a size society likes. But she didn’t think that answer was good enough for her. Then to tell me how other people go right back to square one, years later. Maybe a lot is lack of nutritional information. Having had dietitians and nutritionist before, could be altering my opinions as to how she does things. I will give her a chance at redemption. It is not like I have a choice if I use this office, she is all they have. We all have different stories. Don’t put me In a category with someone else based on a few things. I am my own story. She seems to be a woman that no longer enjoys her job and doesn’t care about why she is there, just to get a paycheck. Look, my bias is showing!

In the middle of my journey, so far everyone is nice except that Janet up in the front. She is rude and loud. She seems like she have an attitude everytime. Everyone else I met so far is great, especially the doctors
