Dr. Tien is a meticulous, highly skilled surgeon whose precision and attention to detail quite literally change lives. During my procedure, he removed four polyps from my colon, one of which was precancerous, taking a decisive step that may have prevented the development of colon cancer. The life saving work he does has undoubtedly protected not just me, but countless others. Because of his diligence and commitment to thorough, timely care, I’ve been given the opportunity to move forward with intention. Now it is my responsibility to honor that gift, starting with improving my health and increasing my fiber intake. I am deeply grateful for his expertise, his vigilance, and the care he provides so compassionately.

My experience is for an EGD & Colonoscopy. Colonoscopy prep required no solid foods for the whole day prior and morning of. I was light headed, anxious and hungry-all of the makings of a possibly horrible experience. Thankfully with each and every interaction I had with the staff, I was put at ease and before I knew it I was being nudged awake and the procedures were over! Starting with Vanessa at check in, who is one of the calmest and cheerful front desk person I have ever come across, to friendly and attentive Claire&Keely at my prep, efficient Maribeck in the procedure room and ending with informational and helpful Tammy&Denise at recovery. What to expect: There is an upper and lower level entrance to the building, for my procedures I was supposed to go to the lower level. Turning into the building off of Charleston, the first entrance you come across is the upper level-which is where I went in. I was then guided to utilize the elevator to go down the lower level. Make sure to look for the lower level instead since that is where your designated driver needs to pick you up after the procedure. Your DD can accompany you and wait for you at the waiting room if preferred (or in the parking lot), if not both check in and the preop RN will confirm the contact information for your DD. Check in will need your photo ID, insurance card and your copay/deductible/coinsurance will be collected. They will also confirm your demographic information, medication list, medical history, and that you underwent your prep. I had about a 15min wait after check in before I was taken back for preop. A bag was provided to put all my personal belongings, I was asked if any valuables needed to be noted. After I changed into the gown and socks provided, my vitals were taken and my IV was started. RN called my DD to confirm they were my ride and to go over the post procedure information. Dr Denise, anesthesiologist, came to introduce herself and ask if I had any questions. I was then wheeled into the procedure room where Dr Tian introduced himself and gave a brief explanation of what the two procedures entailed. I was instructed to lay on my side, Dr Denise advised me that I would feel a little burn as the propofol enters my system…and then I was nudged awake by Denise in the recovery room. I was sent home with a folder with instructions and informational sheets to refer to. Overall, great experience 👍🏼👍🏼

I just had EGD today Linden was my preop nurse and Kelly in recovery room. Dr Posner my gastroenterologist , Anesthesiology also excellent team. Everyone was very professional, my husband waited with me and was informed on my progress the entire time. I would highly recommend and I would not go anywhere but SMA Rancho surgery center.

Best surgery center in Las Vegas. From check in, to the staff, to the surgery and recovery. Top notch. We are very fortunate to have this facility in our community.
