While the medical staff and procedure were great, I’ve had ongoing issues with communication regarding billing. This is why the one star. Calls to the main line often go unanswered or lead to a full voicemail. When I do reach someone and request billing, I’m transferred to an extension that isn’t monitored. I’ve even visited the center in person to try to resolve this. It has now been three months, and I still haven’t received any update on the credit owed to me.
Surgery was horribly painful. Three months later I'm still in pain and my quality of life has suffered tremendously. Docs have offered no explanation for what's going on. All told getting surgery here after consultation with the Advanced Urology Institute was the worst decision of my life.
Not a good experience in preop area. I have never had a problem being stuck. It took 3 different nurses to get an IV in my arm. Let me start by saying that I am a female bodybuilder & am very vascular so my veins are very large & visble. I have never had a problem getting stuck for IVs or labs. But here, the first nurse, I don't know if she was new, but she could not get the needle in so she kept pushing down into my vein & it felt like it was hitting bone as deep as it was. She gave up & abruptly left me saying she has to get someone else to do it. The second nurse comes in, gets most of the needle in, tapes it up & then the OR nurse came to take me the OR. I get situated on the OR table & the nurse is administering the sedation, she realized the shoddy needle placement, so she said she was going to place the IV/needle on my other arm. I had some sedation already that got into me so I was pretty high at that time. But the OR nurse put the IV in with no problem & went about her job. It took an OR nurse to figure out how to put an IV in my arm the correct way. I'm surprised the first nurse didn't blow out my vein or that I wasn't badly bruised from the misplaced needle. Plus I wasnt given any paperwork or follow up appointment before I left. That is my sad experience at this facility. Other than that, the receptionist was wonderful, very friendly & efficient, the blonde OR nurse & the other OR nurse were very friendly & professional, & Dr. Sarvis is great, he performed my procedure with no pain or complications post recovery. I had to call AUI today to find out when my follow up appointment is. I hope if I have to have another procedure here again, that I won't have to go through that hot mess again.
Dr. Newell and staff were absolutely wonderful! I was in full panic the morning of my surgery...crying and terrified but they really made me feel better. Dr. Newell is an excellent surgeon and was able to fix my badly detached retina in 1 surgery! I've rarely met doctors that are both personable and highly skilled...he is both🤗
I'll give 2 stars at the start of this, but, why have phones if you don't answer them? Why tell your clients that you will call them back, and never do? Answer your phones. People are trying to reach out to you folks. It's not a scary device. I'm suppose to have surgery July 10th, but I'm in the dark of time. No time, then no show. That's not our fault for not knowing. Again, ANSWER your phones.
