I really appreciate Dr. Aggrey for doing such a great job on my knee replacement surgery! It feels great! I also appreciate his P.A. Dr Shortreed. She gave me great post surgery advice. I want to also say that Slocom does a great job at preparing you for the procedure and gives you a detailed printout of every step. I'm so glad that Dr. Aggrey had me do pre-surgery physical therapy. It made a huge difference and I was allowed to go home the same day as my surgery. Thank you to everyone at Slocom!

My experience with Slocum Orthopedics has been extremely frustrating and concerning from start to finish. I suffered a severe dislocation of my left knee on December 14, and despite the obvious severity of the injury and the fact that they already had my records from the VA it took over a month just to be seen at the end of January. We all know I needed that MRI. Instead, I was told I had to see a provider first, which only delayed necessary imaging and treatment. At my follow-up in February with Dr. Hoellrich, the communication was poor and disorganized. He came into the appointment rambling about my condition, did not review or show me my MRI results, and simply stated I needed MPFL surgery. I had to actively push and ask questions just to understand what was actually wrong. Eventually, he confirmed a full-thickness MPFL tear and significant traumatic bone bruising, which should have been clearly explained from the start. As a registered nurse, I found this lack of communication and transparency unacceptable. He also informed me I would not return to full duty for at least 6 months post-op, which is a major life impact that deserved a more thorough discussion. They also did not provide light duty paperwork which was requested and refuse to fill out my paid leave Oregon and FMLA paperwork because the diagnosis was incorrect! The administrative side has been just as problematic: • I had to call multiple times just to gain access to my patient portal • My chart initially listed an incorrect diagnosis (right hamstring sprain) • My medication list included medications I have never taken • My MRI report was missing entirely—I had to repeatedly call to obtain it • When finally received, the radiologist report clearly confirmed the MPFL tear and bone bruising • My chart was later updated incorrectly again to recurrent subluxations of both knees Even now, my chart still does not reflect the correct diagnosis. This is not a minor issue this directly impacts my VA coverage of care. The VA is not going to approve a left MPFL reconstruction surgery when the documented diagnosis is a right hamstring sprain. These inaccuracies put my ability to receive necessary treatment at risk. Every time I call, it takes hours to reach someone, and when I do, the staff often act inconvenienced and dismissive. There is a clear lack of accountability, urgency, and basic compassion. As a service-connected veteran, this injury and my care matter deeply. The level of disorganization and poor treatment I’ve experienced is alarming. At this point, I am actively seeking care outside of this area. It feels like this clinic operates with the mindset that being the only local option excuses substandard care. 0 customer service. 0 compassion. Completely unacceptable.

My experience with Trisha Lacey PA was far below acceptable patient care. As someone who works in health care, I would have been written up or fired if I treated patients the way she treated me. She did not listen, her communication was harsh, and she showed little empathy during my post shoulder surgery recovery. My experience with Trisha Lacey, PA, was far below the standard of care I expect as both a patient and a healthcare professional. If I treated patients the way she treated me, I would have been written up or terminated. Throughout my post‑operative recovery, she demonstrated poor listening skills and an abrasive, drill‑sergeant‑like communication style that made it difficult to feel supported or taken seriously. When I reached out for help with significant pain and swelling after shoulder surgery, she appeared dismissive and unwilling to consider that my symptoms required attention. Her approach felt uncaring and uninterested in understanding what I was actually experiencing. The most concerning moment occurred when I called after hours due to alarming neck swelling and pain. Instead of offering guidance or reassurance, she ended the call by telling me to “call when it’s an emergency” a response that was both unprofessional and inappropriate given the situation. Patients deserve clarity, compassion, and actionable advice, especially after surgery. Thankfully, my physical therapist and family doctor listened, took my concerns seriously, and provided the support I needed. Their responsiveness highlighted the stark contrast in patient care. Based on my experience, I believe Slocum should address her communication style and overall approach to patient care. Clinical knowledge is important, but so is empathy, listening, and treating patients with respect. I hope this feedback leads to meaningful improvement for future patients.

I saw Dr Trek Lyons last week. Getting an appointment was easy. I called and was in three days later. Dr Lyons is one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen. He diagnosed me immediately ( after seeing two other doctors who had no idea what was wrong) He gave me a treatment plan, explained things thoroughly, was really smart, a great story teller and just all around nice guy. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Got in quickly and got an accurate diagnosis from Dr. Koester who was fantastic for our 15 year old autistic son. Had an MRI ordered which took 2 weeks for the prior auth then another week and a half for the appt. I told the scheduler that our son had autism and that he would do fine but I just wanted to warn the MRI tech so that they were prepared and that I could go in with him to help if needed. She said we might need to choose a different day as the techs arent able to take extra time and that I wouldn't be able to go in with him. I said it would be fine because it had already taken so long and I didnt want to wait longer. We went and the MRI tech was lovely and made the experience great. She was patient and kind and I was able to be with my son through the whole thing. Amost two weeks after the mri we heard nothing so I called and after holding for 45 minutes on the phone finally talked to a person who had to have the Doctor call me back. He did call back and apologized profusely because we should have had results days ago. Kudos to Dr. Koester and the MRI Tech. I still give 4 stars because they were awesome. The call wait time is always long and maybe talking to MRI schedulers about accommodations that the techs can make for people with disabilities would be great, as she seemed to have no problem with it. I only mentioned it on the phone so that they weren't surprised in case he didnt understand some of their instructions. There was also a break down in our MRI results getting to the physician in a timely manner which he acknowledged.
