My husband recently had surgery here and the experience afterward was extremely frustrating. He was given post-op instructions and phone numbers to call if he had questions. When he tried calling, the receptionist that answered on each of the post op numbers repeatedly hung up on him and telling her coworker "its for ears nose and throat" and hung up instead of helping or transferring him to the correct person by the way my husband didn't have surgery for his ears nose throat.. receptionist was lying to her coworkers saying it was ears nose and throat she didn't even try to get any more information to help... My husband was not rude on the phone at all, he is very patient and respectful.... so it was confusing and unprofessional to be treated that way. On top of that, the doctor who performed the surgery made a comment saying that “your people don’t take good care of yourselves,” which came across as incredibly inappropriate and offensive. There was also a serious communication breakdown regarding his medication. The pharmacy we often use would not release the prescription without hearing back from the surgeon from Rainier, but no one could get ahold of that surgical doctor. My husband’s primary care doctor and the pharmacist also tried contacting the surgeon from Rainier without success. We ultimately had to show up in person at the pharmacy to get answers before closing time. Thankfully, his primary doctor(a different doctor who is not the surgical doctor from rainier) stepped in and changed the medication so my husband could receive what he needed. The lack of communication between the surgical office at Rainier and our main pharmacy caused unnecessary stress during what should have been a straightforward recovery process.
