Told I’m a candidate for meniscus surgery but had to see a second doctor to confirm. Second doctor spent 5 minutes with me saying it’s a one hour surgery, I should definitely get it and ushered me out to scheduling. Surgery was pushed months out. During that time, there was zero communication even though I was supposed to get a call with an estimate. The call came three weeks prior to surgery, with an estimate of over $3000 in expected to pay out of pocket ON TOP OF what my insurance would pay- meaning the total cost was well over $10,000 for a one hour surgery. No wonder they were so eager to get me in. It’s not almost year after my injury and my knee is fine without surgery. These people are out for money.

The clinical staff, if you can get through to them are fine. The non clinical staff (I.e those that answer phones are rude and condescending. If my surgeon hadn’t come as highly recommended as he did I would’ve gone elsewhere based on how awful interacting with front desk staff is. DO BETTER.

The doctor did not help me at all. They did some very expensive tests, which they did not even follow up on. They only called with results- they didn't even show me the MRI results at an in person appointment. They just sent me a bill and said they can't help me. Very uncaring, and it seemed the doctor was only interested in doing surgeries. When he realized I wouldn't go for a surgery, he charged me as much as possible, then refused to see me for future appointments saying there's nothing they can do which isn't true at all. They don't call you about the bill, either. You have to signup to pay on their website, and they don't answer the phones in the office. Capitalist doctors not caring doctors.

I had a torn meniscus repaired at Proliance Surgeons' Wallingford office. I cannot say enough positive things about the medical care and treatment, from how things were explained to the actual surgery experience. Best of all, my knee feels great. It has been five weeks since surgery and I am back to running, hiking, and biking without pain. However: Immediately after the initial diagnosis I was so frustrated with the lack of communication from the scheduler that I considered starting over with another doctor at a different office. It was early summer and - looking at an MRI, surgery, and recovery - I had to cancel or rearrange business trips and family outings. To do so, I just needed some indication of when things might happen. Would the MRI be in a week, two weeks, or four weeks? How about surgery after that? Unfortunately, the scheduler never called me and never returned my calls. The front office provided contradictory explanations for why I could not get any information to help me plan for the weeks ahead. After nearly two weeks, I was contacted by a different scheduler and things proceeded well from there. Perhaps there is a good reason for the initial lack of communication. But it was both costly and frustrating.

Saw Dr Shapiro for a shoulder injury, and he was very knowledgeable, had reviewed my scans prior to meeting and had a clear recommended plan. Great at explaining things in layman’s terms too. Staff also very friendly and efficient.
