Chipotle is more forthcoming with their "extra charges" than this facility. At least I know the guac is extra. I went in for what I thought was a routine eye exam. I checked in and even said "never had my vision checked so I just thought I should get a little exam." Upon checking out, they told me that with my vision insurance, I'm only responsible for $10. 2 weeks later I receive a bill totaling $355. They said because I asked a question about something, the doctor did a more "in depth" exam, without asking me if I wanted said exam, or telling me it wasn't covered under my vision insurance because it is medical. If I wanted a "self-pay" discount, which by the way is 50% LESS than what they charge people with insurance, I shouldn't have used my vision insurance (that covered nothing). Since I did, the billing woman now said she needs "supervisor approval" to get the 50% discount. What in the CROOKERY is that? Anyways, long story long, you better ask questions (or don't because they'll charge you $400). Be careful with them.
From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable. They were friendly, professional, and very efficient in handling all the paperwork. Dr. Calderwood was fantastic—very thorough and took the time to explain everything clearly. Teresa is great. She makes all of the tedious tests comfortable and fun. Overall, everyone was incredibly friendly and professional, and I felt well taken care of from start to finish. I highly recommend Dr. Calderwood and the staff at North Idaho Eye Institute!

My 5 year old son who has ADHD loved it here! He is a little anxious around doctors and strangers but was so comfortable here. Staff was so friendly and patient with him and able to complete a full exam (they even convinced him to let them dilate his eyes). All of our questions and concerns were addressed and the process was fast and efficient, getting paperwork filled out online was easy, and quick scheduling. Highly recommend North Idaho Institute for anyone with high energy/anxious kiddos.
