As a retired professor at eighty-four, I had the good luck of experiencing the exceptional efficiency of the surgical team at the MemorialCare (MC) Surgical Center on Forbes Road in Laguna Niguel. From the moment I checked in for my procedure, I was impressed by the professionalism displayed at every stage of my care. After check-in, I appreciated the ability to track my surgeon, Dr. F. Ghosheh—who is known for his impressive surgical skills and kind demeanor—on a large screen that showed my position in the surgical queue. This feature significantly alleviated any pre-surgery worries. I scheduled an early morning appointment at six a.m., with my Uber drop-off at 5:45. This timing allowed for a full day of recovery at home, and I felt very well by bedtime and even better the next day. The surgery team was remarkable; there was no idle chatter or unnecessary distractions, which can often occur in fast-paced, repetitive environments. Their focus on timely and meaningful interactions fostered a quiet, positive atmosphere. Their teamwork was seamless, with five or six individuals engaging with me before I entered the operating theater, each knowing exactly when to step in or out to maintain the flow of care. For those undergoing eye surgery, I advise strictly adhering to the required decreasing eye drop regimen, which enhances my recovery. I administered drops as follows: four drops daily at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m., and the final drop at 8 p.m. Once you reduce the drops to three times daily, take them at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and 8 p.m. Then, for two daily drops, use them at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. It’s important not to deviate from your schedule, as following it is crucial to facilitate recovery. I want to thank my "left eye" MC team: Amalia at the front desk, Mana the pre-op nurse, Beatriz the nurse assistant, Molly in the operating room, Dr. Mizutani, the anesthesia, and especially Julia, the post-op nurse. Two weeks later, I want to thank my "right eye" MC team, who worked with me during an early morning procedure before sunrise—my favorite time. This team included Summar-nurse, Jenna and Shari, the operating nurses, Dr. Mizutani anesthesia, Beatriz, the nurse assistant, and especially Lilly, the pre-op nurse. Well done, everyone!
I’ve been here twice now for cataract surgery. The staff, especially Lynn!, is great! Very calming, and patient experience centric. They exude confidence which helps to assuage anxiety. Thank you for your professionalism and caring demeanor. I am grateful.
I had cataract surgery for both eyes at two different times, the first surgery went fine. This is apart from the fact that for the third and last time a lady came and standing in the middle of the hallway shouted " name !! date of birth !!' I am. glad she did not ask for my Social security number because every patient and staff could hear it. Talk of exposing personal info ha? Second surgery, Ouch !! The nurse who was supposed to set me up started asking questions like, name, date of birth, and why I was there. Very calmly, I said " don't you have this info? " She raised her voice and got upset. I, as a patient had to ask her to calm down. Then to put the IV they had to do it three times using both hands to succeed. The strange thing was that they were joking and laughing about it, ha ha ha what a sense of humor. After the surgery they gave me ten minutes to dress up and made me sit on a wheelchair in the hallway for 20 minutes on my own for my ride to arrive. This was next to their reception area of some sort. I still felt very sleepy sitting there without a proffedsional supervision. My Dr and the surgical team were fine.
My daughter had surgery there last week. The staff is so wonderful, professional, and caring. The staff has been very responsive and friendly, and there was never any delays in returning calls etc. The facility is well-run and well kept. I would definitely recommend this location.
My 16 yr old son had sinus surgery, turbinate reduction and septoplasty at this facility. Dr. Thompson and the entire staff was phenomenal. He had his surgery in the Summer. Everything is still functioning so much better and nose breathing is great!
