I got asked the question, "Where is the entrance to this building?" But didn't get to answer, so here it is: There are two entrances. One is on the West side of the building along the driveway entrance. The other is on the far west of the North side of the building in the parking lot. Parking in the day is woefully lacking, but DO NOT park across the street - they are extremely aggressive at towing anyone who parks in that empty lot. Better to park at Ralph's supermarket around the corner and walk the ½ block to the building. You have been warned.

I had a very bad experience at Hawthorne Surgery Center (HSC) where I had been assigned for several years and where I have had several procedures for my severe, chronic pain as well as California Sports and Spine (CSS), the pain management clinic I had been assigned to for several years which is located in the same building. I suffer severe pain throughout my spine, headaches and other. I have had several surgeries. My last appointment at HSC was for a procedure called radio frequency ablation. During that appointment and after changing into the gown, a male nurse then inserted my IV. He then told me to give him the information to confirm my ride to take me home. I gave him the phone number for Call The Car. After waiting for almost an hour with the IV in my arm, he finally returned and told me that my ride was confirmed. I explained to him that I had already called HSS the previous day and spoke with the office manager who told me she confirmed my ride, that way I wouldn’t have to wait to have that done while I was there. I also explained to the male nurse that the IV should have been put in after the ride was confirmed so I wouldn’t have to wait an hour with an IV in my arm while they confirmed my ride as well as so that if my ride was not confirmed and I could not have my procedure, I would not have to unnecessarily have an IV inserted. He then became very rude, argumentative and aggressive. Scolding me that he knows procedure and that if he wants to make me wait with an IV in my arm then that is what he will do. Saying things to me like, “are you telling me how to do my job?” This same thing happened at the appointment I had there before the last one. After that other appointment, I spoke to an office manager there about it and she told me that next time the IV would be inserted after my ride was confirmed. Soon after my last appointment at HSS, I received a call from a secretary telling me that I am being discharged and banned from the facility. No explanation. No one to hear my side nor who cares. HSC caused me to be banned from there as well as from CSS. Neither did anything to refer me elsewhere nor contact my insurance to let them know that I need to be assigned elsewhere. No attempt to arrange a continuity of care like they are required to do. By them banning me from HSC and causing me to be banned from CSS, both without explanation nor due process, this has caused me to no longer receive pain medication which I had been prescribed for several years. By it being stopped suddenly and not weaning me off of it nor monitoring me, I have suffered extreme withdrawls and discontinuation symptoms. So severe that I am still suffering from that, not to mention no longer having any medication. I am suffering withdrawls and increased, severe pain due to not having medication. They also cancelled my appointment for my next procedure which had already been authorized and scheduled. They banned me and disregarded me like I was trash all because I told them that I should not have to be made to wait an hour with an IV in my arm while they confirm a ride which I had already confirmed with them. At my aforementioned penultimate appointment at HSS, I heard a female employee speaking to a male employee while I was again waiting with an IV in my arm for my ride to be confirmed. She told him that she failed to log a Dilaudid pill which she claims she gave to a patient. He responded by telling her, “It’s ok. It’s justified.” So it’s ok for them to break the rules and do whatever they want to, but if I explain that I do not want to be made to wait unnecessarily with an IV in my arm then they retaliate against me by banning me. Both HSC and CSS are extremely unprofessional, uncaring, retaliatory, etc. If you are referred here, I recommend that you contact your insurance so that you can be seen elsewhere. I have already begun to be represented by a law firm on a contingency basis regarding these acts of medical malpractice/negligence, retaliation, etc.

I've been to the Hawthorne Surgery Center 3 times now for pain management treatments. I have received 2 steroid injections and one Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections. May I say that every single person I have had the pleasure of interacting with here are amazing at their jobs. From nurses, to front offices, to the surgeons. I was treated right, all my questions were answered, and the injections themselves were speedy (about 5 minutes or so, not including prep times). I did all my injections awake with local anesthesia and didn't feel a think besides the initial subcu poke to inject the steroids (hurt less than when they inject your typical medicine shots at the doctor). They are highly recommended! Thank you all.

Do not under any circumstance go to this surgery center!! They will bill your private insurance for ridiculous things that they didn’t even do!! They clearly are there for profit! I received a 8k surprise bill from them. That is illegal under federal law!! For an epidural! They said I used anesthesia but billed it for the full not the local this costing my bill to go up!! They tried to pressure me into full anesthesia! They forced me to stay 30 min when I was fine to leave so they could bill for a hospital bed! This a racket! Do not go to them! This is a warning!!!
