I too have been on pain management for years. I recently moved back to my home town and tried Dr Do. Very disappointed with the amount of time I was given - in the 5 months of seeing him, I've probably had a total of 15 minutes with the doctor. Twice, my scripts were not called in and the staff lied about it. I'm in agreement, the pain is almost unbearable but so is a doctor who can't spend time to listen!

I am a 30+ year medical professional in physical therapy. Despite appearing and doing my best to be fit, I suffer with chronic pain that I have not been able to manage with PT intervention. I am unable to take NSAIDS due to stomach problems but have had good pain management with a low dosage of hydrocodone prescribed and monitored by my pcp for the past 4 years. I have never abused or sought an increased dosage throughout this time. Recently we moved to Georgia where primary care physicians will not prescribe pain medication and refer all patients to pain management clinics. I am very well acquainted with the quick judgement that taking opioids for pain incurs and have hated needing them for this reason only. The low dosage that I take has allowed me to be active and participate in life instead of recovering for hours on the couch after work. It has been worth the trade-off to often be stigmatized by medical professionals. I was hoping for an objective experience with a pain specialist who would see and treat me as an individual. Unfortunately, it was the extreme opposite. Dr An Do judged, condescended and dismissed me. He discounted my long career and experience in Physical Therapy and personal training while handing me a crookedly printed, faded copy of low level back exercises that I might give my elderly clients and telling me that I should try “formal” PT. In addition to my signed release of medical records I always bring a comprehensive list of medical problems, medications and pertinent history that Dr Do handed back to me stating, “this is not a “real” medical record. When I asked if the appointments are usually a 45 minute wait, (with very few people in the waiting area), he stated, “you’re lucky it wasn’t longer”. I left feeling so offended and defeated. I shouldn’t have to beg for what has been working well for me for years. I’m sure I could jump through the hoops, spend the long drives and hours in the waiting room to be shamed and condescended to ultimately to arrive at the original treatment plan but I don’t deserve to be treated this way. Pain is better than this.

The office staff is always super helpful and friendly. My husband and I both see Dr. Do and find him to be very knowlegable. He does not push surgery like other pain managment dr's that I have seen in the past. Dr. Do has stated I still have many options still before surgery needs to be done. He listens to you, and when he's not fully sure of what is going on he asks you to point to the spot that is bothering you. His diagnostic skills are great. The injections that I have had thus far have been helpful. I have chosen to stay awake during the procedures. He's been very kind and caring during the procedures and always asks if I'm doing okay. He tells you what is going to happen, for example that I'll feel pressure, or a slight burning. He is always paying attention to muscle tensing or other pain indicators and will administer more numbing medication whenever needed.
