***Parents of Pediatric Patients Beware*** My precious 5 year old boy was a patient here for an adenoidectomy and frenectomy. We had done our pre surgical work as parents by prepping him mentally and emotionally for the surgery knowing that surgery is scary for children, regardless. We were even able to get him to willingly go to the OR with the nurse by having him write a grocery list on a clip board. As I was handed him off to the Gateway anesthesiologist and staff, I was trusting that they would do their part in not just keeping my 5 vear old alive, but also they would do their best to make the experience as comfortable as possible. I hadn't asked about their anesthesia protocol for pediatric patients because I assumed they would use a pediatric method to help decrease stress. What I found out from my five year old after he recovered from surgery is just unacceptable. He told me they held him down while he was crying and forced the mask on him to make him go to sleep. He told me he was so scared, and he wouldn't be able to sleep anymore because he's too afraid. They absolutely traumatized him. Fast forward to that night, my little boy had night terrors all night long- screaming, crying, and kicking for periods of up to 10 minutes. Apparently, this type of post-anesthesia reaction can last for weeks and is especially prevalent in children who experience EXTREME stress prior to anesthesia. I'm concerned about this traumatic experience affecting him in the long-term. My little boy experienced night terrors for 2 months after his experience at this facility. If I would have known that this facility uses what I consider barbaric methods for anesthesia induction in children, I would NEVER have taken my child here. We are still trying to help him recover mentally from the stress of the experience. He is in child play therapy for the foreseeable future to help him recover from the trauma he experienced at this facility. There are other methods for anesthesia induction that Gateway could adopt if they truly care about the most vulnerable patients- children. I understand that sometimes their current method is necessary, but another less traumatizing method could have worked on my child, but no other method was even attempted. It makes me wonder if they are just trying to push pediatric patients through as quickly as possible. It's even proven that their fear-inducing methods of inducing anesthesia on children delays healing and causes nightmares in children. My prayer for Gateway is they put the pediatric patient first and implement alternative methods; however, we will never return to the establishment. I hope parents join me in putting their precious children first and going somewhere else!

I had a rotator cuff surgery at Gateway on the 4tf of February. Everything went just like the surgeon told me it would. That was the first surgery I had since I was a young man. Everyone that I had contact with was very supportive, friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate as well as professional. I would recommend Gateway Surgery Center to anyone who has a procedure planned.

Dr. Ward and his team run a well-oiled machine. As a healthcare provider myself, I know what an accomplishment that is. My husband's knee replacement went smoothly, they were attentive and quick to respond. The post op nurse Chariti and the at home nurse Heather were good teachers and spent a lot of time making sure we understood his postop care. Thank you!
