Worst experience ever. Had a 9am appointment. Was there until 2:30. I had to sit out in a public atrium, with no where comfortable to sit, even though the surgery center had a nice waiting room. They don’t allow family or friends of the patient to wait there. Not one person updated me throughout the procedure. And then I get a phone call. “You can come pick your patient up at the front door of the building. Just drive your car around.” I asked how the surgery went, and what the discharge instructions were. I said I am in the building. Could I please talk with someone. They sent a nurse who had no idea what his instructions were. I had to actually fill him in on when my husband allowed to be weight bearing, and at PT. The surgeon NEVER told us how the surgery went, until a day later when I called and left a message. The excuse was that they told my husband while he was coming out of anesthesia!!!! I am not in the medical field, and even I know that patients don’t remember the first few hours after anesthesia. My husband had no idea he ever even talked to the surgeon. IF YOU LOVE YOUR FAMILY- do not let them go under the knife at this facility!!

I would give both the Surgery Center of Fairfield for a colonoscopy experience and also the billing department there "Zero Stars" if possible. My husband went in for a regular colonoscopy back in December 2024 which should have been 100 percent covered by our insurance. He had a wretched experience, woke up with cuts in his throat from aggressive suctioning during the procedure, and we had a hard time getting anyone to explain to us what had happened. They said he had a lot of congestion. Okay, so we go home and he coughs up blood for days. THEN, the doctor (Dr. Jeffrey W. Kwan, who by the way, never follows up to see my husband is okay and DOES NOT call me us about the diagnostic billing code he put in instead of the regular preventive care code, despite my many calls to the office, to the point where I am left tell my sob story to the Poor Receptionist) codes this as a Diagnostic Procedure instead of a Regular Preventive Care Colonoscopy (because the Dr finds benign polyps and decides he had to do too much work for his liking) and we get hit with a $1200 bill from the Center because coded that way, our insurance will only pay 80 percent. I get the bill, call the Center's billing, tell them I believe this is wrong and ask them to look into it, possibly re-code it, and let me know what I should owe. THEY NEVER DO ANYTHING THEY SAID THEY WOULD. Instead, without any further resolution on the matter, they send the bill to a collection agency. Oh, and this center charges THREE times as much as what I paid for my Regular Colonoscopy in Hamden. Don't use this place in Fairfield or Dr. Kwan - poor patient care, terrible customer service, awful billing. Go to Endoscopy Center of Connecticut in Hamden. Charged me a third the price. 100 percent covered. Wonderful patient care, great customer service, efficient and accurate billing. My two cents on the matter.

The Fairfield surgical center is so poorly run I will never go back. This is no reflection on the physician as my physician was excellent. I was told to arrive at 2:15 PM. I was taken into surgery after 5:30 PM. No updates regarding the delay were given to me or to my spouse. My spouse was not permitted to come in with me so he was sitting in the waiting room not knowing what was going on. At 5 o'clock I finally broke into tears and they went and got him. He was shocked that I still had not been brought to the OR. It had been 24 hours since I had eaten I was very thirsty and very upset. Compounded by the fact that nobody bothered to notify us that there would be a delay. The room that I was assigned to had no working television and for the amount of hours I sat in it alone I was miserable. I left my phone with my spouse. Lack of communication is inexcusable in the medical field. While I understand that when a surgeon opens a person up they might encounter a more complicated matter than they anticipated it is still unfair to not apprise the patient and their loved ones that things are delayed. In all fairness the nurses were fantastic. Edited It turns out I should have read the Google and yelp reviews before I booked the surgeries. It turns out this is the way they do things there they do not permit your loved one to stay with you, they do not care how long you are waiting to be brought into the operating room. I was premature in giving them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps the surgeon had encountered a more difficult Case which is what caused the delay. It just seems that this facility is so poorly run and the patient time and well-being are last on the list.
