Impeccable service and care from check-in to discharge. Dr. Sura and his staff of nurses (Jill, Amy, Monica, and Judy) were all so friendly and attentive during the appointment for my colonoscopy that it made such a dreadful task feel almost enjoyable! Unfortunately, I did not think to get the name of the warm and friendly receptionist who patiently answered my billing questions and offered a phone number to call to get more clarity on my insurance coverage. This group of healthcare providers truly lives up to the “care” portion in their title.

My experience at Charlotte Gastroenterology in Ballantyne was very disappointing. Dr. Maria Hatara’s bedside manner was not up to par. She repeatedly asked me the same questions and didn’t seem to listen to my responses, even though my information was already in her notes. The comments she left in my chart reflected only part of our interaction and left out key details I had shared. After that, I was given the runaround trying to schedule an endoscopy. Instead of clear communication, a nurse simply handed me two pieces of paper that had nothing to do with my visit or diagnosis. To make matters worse, the checkout receptionist seemed more focused on preparing for her birthday rather than helping me schedule my procedure. In the end, I never got my endoscopy because I was told my insurance “didn’t transfer over” to their building — even though I was referred to this office specifically because they confirmed they accepted my insurance days before my appointment. The whole experience left me frustrated and uncomfortable with trusting this practice to handle my care

I had a wonderful experience today at the Ballantyne office of the CGH practice. From Steve at check in desk to Nora who checked me in, to PA Marcie Pickett who answered all my questions and allayed my anxiety about my upper GI issues, to Nidini who explained my upcoming endoscopy , to the lovely young woman who checked me out, it was a stellar visit. I recommend this practice to anyone who needs to see a Gastroenterologist. Dr Zaidman is the best, too!

Dr Kokenes is just the best doctor ever! He literally listens to everything you have to say and genuinely cares about you. He truly tries to help you any way he can. He’s a wonderful person and excellent doctor! His staff is very kind and helpful

The specialists are very good, but their scheduling and back office are completely in-ept. Had to reschedule my original procedure appointment, and 4 days before the new appointment they tell me it has to be done at a different facility which cancelled it. Then they cannot even do the procedure in the same year. I initially scheduled in June...they can take you until the following January. Not to mention they do not even give and estimate for the procedure, so I don't know what the out of pocket cost is going to be.
